DOCUMENTARY

June-July 2022 across America

New York, LA, and everything in between.

After graduating college, there wasn't much left for me in Upstate New York, so I packed up my bags and left.

I made it up as I drove along, alternated between Airbnbs and friends who were kind enough to let me crash with them and spent quality time with music, audiobooks and my thoughts.

Many people ask, "Favorite city?" New Orleans. "Least favorite?" Phoenix. But a second visit might change my mind.

"Regrets?" Yes. Stopping in Atlanta for lunch instead of a couple days and not visiting the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.

The route: Syracuse, New York, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Charlotte, Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, (Birmingham, Alabama for gas and Costco pizza,) New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Houston, Galveston Island, San Antonio, and Austin, Texas, Roswell, New Mexico, Phoenix, Arizona, Palm Springs and Los Angeles, California.

CROSS COUNTRY ROAD TRIP

Summer 2021 in Portland, Oregon

It's a 16 hour drive without stopping. So we didn't hesitate because it's been done before. And now there were 4 of us. That's about 5 hours each.

We try and make the trip every couple years to see how the family's doing up there. We've been driving up to Portland all my life.

I think I could maybe see myself living there someday, among all the green.

Summer 2021 in San Esteban Atatlauca, Oaxaca, Mexico

"San Esteban, San Esteban, San Esteban."

My grandma's been going on about San Esteban Atatlauca for years and I never understood quite what she meant until I saw San Esteban for myself.

San Esteban is a remote village high in the rural mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. It's where our indigenous family comes from.

Everyone is related. The whole town. Just about.

I introduce to you, my family.

OAXACA, MEXICO

January 2020 in Taipei, Taiwan

It was a 16 hour flight. No stops, no layovers. Straight. By the time we landed, I'd lost all perception of time, completely disoriented.

It was my first time in an asian country. We there to document the presidential election and take note of Taiwan's relations with China and it was an eye-opening experience.

When we weren't learning about their politics, we were surrounded by the green, the rain, and I swear, I'd never seen so many rainbows in a single day.

Spring 2022 on the East Coast

During my time in college, while on the East Coast, I made it my mission to see as much of it as possible, because I didn't know when I'd return.

The following photos are a compilation of my travels to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Montreal, Quebec, Providence, Rhode Island, Boston, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Chimney Bluffs State Park and Howes caves an hour outside of Albany, New York.

MISCELLANEOUS CITIES

PHOTOGRAPHY

DOCUMENTARY

April 2022 in Manhattan, New York

The first time I visited the city, I hated it. The buildings are so tall, all you ever get is shade and an odd sliver of sun slipping through. The wind runs laps around the block and right through you again so all you ever are is cold.

I went back in the spring, this time on a Greyhound. Rented a room on the quieter side of Brooklyn. Saw how vibrant everything was. And I thought, "You know, I think I like it here."
